Laptop Messenger
I have an internet-connected laptop that will allow Messenger, but Explorer does nothing. What do I do?
I just got a Dell laptop, and unfortunately it's got Windows Vista (not thrilled with it so far)
I have two other computers hooked into my home network, and they work fine; however, when I plug the ethernet cable into the laptop, only msn messenger works in terms of connectivity.
The little connection thing in the bottom right bar says I'm connected, and it's a strong connection, but whenever I try to open explorer it tells me that it cannot open the page (any page I try). I got Firefox on here now, and it won't do anything either.
Any suggestions on what to do?
Ok, and also, I have not been on the internet with it yet, so I don't know where I could have gotten a virus from...
More than likely it will be your firewall if you've got a firewall. Make sure your firewall allows Firefox to access the Internet. Also check you router and modem and make sure they are connected right. Sometimes you can not plug the computer into the slot next to the up-link on the router.
Also start Internet Explorer and under 'File' you might need to select 'Work Online'. Not sure about Firefox. I have seen other people have the same problem and it was McAfee.
