Understand Features of Laptop Before Buying
Understanding the basic features that a laptop must possess is essential. Here are some of the features that you must look for before buying laptops:
Processor and Memory
A central processing unit (CPU) or processor is the brain of laptop. The faster the CPU is, the the better the laptop will perform. The processor speed is measured in GHz (Gigahertz) which indicates the laptop's speed. A Laptop with 2GHz processor speed is considered good. Another important component of your laptop is RAM (random access memory) which acts a temporary storage for the laptops. A 512 MB (Megabyte) RAM should suffice your requirement if you are looking to buy a laptop for simple applications, internet surfing and for listening and viewing audio and video.
Screen Size
The screen size can be a trade off between the portability of the Laptop though. It is measured across diagonally in laptops. Generally, the screen size ranges between 11 to 17 inches. The larger your screen size is, the heavier your laptop will be. If you need better visibility for your laptop, you may opt for a larger screen size, or else if you prefer portability, you may do better with a laptop with smaller screen.
Drives
The Hard Drive size depends on the storage requirements that you have. If you have heavy files, projects, audio and video files to store, you may require large sized hard drives, while if you have simpler requirements for storage, even 40GB may suffice your requirements. External drives and CD/DVD drives are optional and depends on the requirements of the individual.
