Sony Vaio Laptop Dvd Drive Replacement
Will the internal Apple Superdrive work with other laptop makes with the same connections?
I have a Sony Vaio PCG-K25 with a broken optical drive (the lens on the DVD-RW drive is severely scratched). I pulled the optical drive out and noticed that the connections on the Vaio is similar (at least with what I've seen in pictures) to the Macbook's Superdrive. Is it possible to use the Apple Superdrive as a plug-and-play replacement in my Vaio? Will I have to patch some software/drivers together to get it to work in Windows or Linux? Thanks.
Not usually. Watch out.
Don't buy one internationally if yours is from the US, or vise versa. It will not work. Then when it does it will ask you to choose a setting- A country code. You can only do this once and it is set for that. If you burn USA (1) it will not play Korea (2) or China (3) and so on.
