Spacebar problems on Toshiba Laptop?
A few days ago, i decided to clean my Toshiba (model: Satellite A85-S107) laptop's keyboard. Popping the keys off, I thought it was ok, I was doing fine until I got to the spacebar. I didn't realize that the spacebar had a metal bar to assit in the typing. Trying to put on the spacebar, I realized the spacebar was funky. I would gently pop it off again and examine it but nothing looked broken. Now when I type, I have to make sure i hit in a certain area or the computer won't register the space. Plus when I tap on the corners of the spacebar only the side with pressue goes down not the whole bar. It doesnt look like the spacebar metal rod does not go into holes but rather hits against a tiny piece of medal. Does anyone have any advice on what i should do (I now know never to mess with the keys again)?!?
Wow, this happened to my old Gateway laptop. I didn't try to pop off the spacebar, I just played this one video game a lot.
Anyway, I couldn't fix the problem. You just have to get used to pressing the space bar in the middle of the key. It's really annoying, I know, because when you press from the side of the key, sometimes the spacebar key doesn't register.
Amazingly enough, after a couple of months I found out that the spacebar key went back to normal! Give it some time.
